Workplace Wellbeing
Workplace wellbeing has become a significant focus for businesses, particularly in the UK, as part of broader initiatives to enhance employee health, satisfaction, and productivity.
Employers have a duty of care to ensure the physical and mental health of their workforce, which includes taking proactive steps to foster a healthy work environment.
The UK government’s employment rights bill is passing through parliament, with the overarching aim to promote flexibility, fairness and wellbeing in the workforce.

Health & Wellbeing Strategy – The Business Case
Employers who fail to manage mental health at work effectively risk damaging their employer brand in a number of ways. As well as adversely impacting people’s wellbeing and the organisation’s reputation as a good place to work, it could be more challenging to recruit and retain talent.
According to a Deloitte report, 37% of employees think about their mental health more than prior to the pandemic and 31% expect more employer support for their mental health now. Employee morale and engagement levels could also suffer, as well as performance levels.
There could even be costly and potentially high-profile litigation through the courts, through common law personal injury claims, unfair dismissal or discrimination claims, or as a result of breach of contract.
Conversely, embracing positive management of staff mental wellbeing can be part of a comprehensive corporate responsibility agenda and contribute to the organisation’s goals as an ethical and attractive employer.

Workplace Wellbeing TOOLKIT
We can offer our Workplace Wellbeing ‘Stress Risk Assessment’ & Wellbeing Strategy Toolkit from only
£350+VAT/policy
We will talk you through step by step the HSE Management Standards Risk Assessment Approach.
A Stress Risk Assessment is not a generic risk assessment that you can just put your company name on and adopt wholesale without any thought. This would not satisfy the law – and would not be effective in protecting people. Every business is different – you need to think through the hazards and controls required in your business for yourself.
You should review your risk assessment if anything changes (eg following a case of stress-related ill health in the workplace or if there are any significant changes, such as new work activities).
Whether an employer is a small business or a large corporation, the law requires all employers to assess the risk of work-related stress and to put steps in place to tackle those risks.
Employers have a legal duty to protect employees from stress at work by doing a risk assessment and acting on it. If you have fewer than five workers you don’t have to write anything down. But it is useful to do this, so you can review it later, for example if something changes. If you have five or more workers, you are required by law to write the risk assessment down
