Skipton Business Expo – Learning Zone

Welcome again, Our Guest Blogger – Richard Boothman.

At Foggy Outline, we help people to learn. While we concentrate on our specific environmental niche, we’re keen on all forms of learning.  We know that learning doesn’t end when we leave formal education.  It is, or should be, lifelong!

This is particularly the case if you run a small business.  You don’t have specialists to do your book-keeping, to make sure you remain compliant, to do your tax planning or to manage those who work with you and their health and safety.  You have to do this alongside steering and guiding the business.  And it’s a challenge to keep on top of all these tasks without making mistakes.

So Learning about these things is important, even if it helps you to understand when you need more specialist or technical help.

I had this in mind when I proposed to Liz Brewster that we work together to extend the Skipton Business Expo to offer those attending some short, focused learning opportunities.  Liz agreed and Foggy Outline undertook to sponsor and programme the Learning Zone.

If you’re attending Skipton Business Expo, you have the chance in the Learning Zone to hear from people who want you to find out something useful for you and your business.  And the people helping you to learn are all involved in small, local businesses so the sessions are tailored to your needs and interests.  Topics covered include workplace wellbeing, environmentally conscious decision-making, business communication and finance.
